SYRACUSE, N.Y. An Onondaga County budget hearing tonight was
dominated by protests against electronic voting machines.
About 60 attended the public hearing in Syracuse, and almost
all who spoke said that electronic voting machines shouldn't replace paper ballots.
Members of the Sierra Club, the League of Women Voters and a
group of women dressed up in flowered hats called "the Raging
Grannies" all spoke out against the computerized voting machines with
touch screens.
They cited reports of glitches in the systems and said the
computers are vulnerable to hacking and fraud.
