Troy School District
officials vow every vote will count
New voting machines for board election and budget
vote
TROY,
N.Y. (April 11, 2007) – On March 7, the Board of Education for the Troy
City School District voted unanimously to use the services of Liberty Election
Systems, a New York State company, to provide state-of-the-art electronic
voting systems for the school district’s election and budget vote on May 15,
2007.
The
voting system supplied by Liberty is a full-face electronic machine that
includes a Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) that allows the voter the
ability to review their choices on a paper receipt prior to casting a vote. The
VVPAT functionality allows election officials, voters, and candidates the added
confidence that, if necessary, a complete audit of the election can be
recreated by use of the paper back up system.
The
LibertyVote machine was chosen by Troy’s Board of education at the
recommendation of the Rensselaer County board of Elections, in an effort to
restore confidence in the voting process after a malfunction occurred in the
voting machines that were used in last year’s election.
Ten
LibertyVote machines will be used at seven different polling sites on May 15.
Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the following schools:
1,2,12,14,16,18 and Carroll Hill.
Instruction
pamphlets and a sample ballot will be available for review at www.troy.k12.ny.us and the Board of
Education office.

further information, please contact the Board of Education Clerk at (518)
