NEW YORK, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Diebold Inc. (DBD.N: Quote,
Profile, Research) said on Thursday it has been trying to sell its election
systems unit, but its efforts have been unsuccessful in part because of
controversy surrounding electronic voting systems.
Diebold said it is instead taking efforts to make the
subsidiary more independent, giving the unit its own board of directors,
including independent directors.
