Scriber Named to Leadership Post Within State Election Organization

Challenging time ahead for election officials, Scriber says

Oswego County Democratic Election Commissioner William Scriber was unanimously elected recently as second vice president of the New York State Election Commissioner’s Association at the group's annual summer conference in Lake Placid.

"The election professionals of New York are preparing for the many challenges as we move forward with statewide voting machine conversion," said Scriber. "I am happy to serve my fellow election professionals in this important leadership role at this important time."

The ECA is an organization of election professionals from New York's 62 counties.

The organization's stated goals call for preservation of the integrity of the ballot; the easiest possible access to the ballot by the voters; programs to promote greater voter participation; promotion and enactment of the election office procedures and administration; and the enactment of election laws that will guarantee the public the safest and most effective election procedures.

Scriber is in line of succession to assume the ECA presidency in June 2009.

Scriber resides in Parish with his wife, Beverly, and daughter, Christina.
