Open Request to Election Commissioners & County Leaders of NYC
Optical
Scanners
are reliable, time-tested, and inexpensive. Paper ballots are observable,
understandable, and manageable for election staff, poll workers, and voters! Everyone
knows how to protect the security of paper ballots -- we can do it if we have
the political will for honest elections.
Electronic voting machines have failed repeatedly in elections. They cost three to six times more. Computer security is difficult to control. Few people understand computers, and due to the use of secret software, our elections will be in the hands of vendors whose primary obligations are to their shareholders, not the voters.
Simpler technology enables people to participate. Computers shut people out and force them to “trust” experts, thus undermining democracy.
Please select
Paper Ballots and Optical Scanners, with accessible ballot-marking devices for
voters with special needs, when NYC has to replace our lever voting machines!
