Daily Voting News - 13 December 2004

In Washington state the machine recount left a difference of 42 votes between the two candidates for Governor. It turns out that there were 561 ballots that were not counted the first time and if counted would have changed the results of the winner of that count and may have kept a need for a hand recount from occurring. Now the canvassing board needs to accept those ballots which will be done on Wed. In the meantime, both sides of the recount spent the afternoon arguing before the state Supreme Court in order to get all of the votes counted. In Ohio, recounts have begun and Rep. Conyers brought his hearings to the state. A group of activists has challenged the election in the state.
