Adele Bender
Hearing, Board of Elections
in the City of New York
March 4, 2009
Thank
you for this opportunity to provide testimony.
My
name is Adele Bender. I am the Queens Borough Coordinator for JPAC, the Joint
Public Affairs Committee For Older Adults.
For
several years, there has been discussion about purchasing new voting machines.
It
has been part of my job to inform the members of the senior centers about this
issue and about the type of machines being considered.
Most
of those seniors wanted to just keep the lever voting machines. They have been
using them all along, and everyone trusts them.
Seniors
are a big voting block and what they say matters and their needs should be met.
Thank
you.
